This combo includes a beautiful guided Kauri Forest Walk & our amazing Waterfall Discovery Kayak Tour
Kauri Forest Walk
Your authentic cultural experience starts with you being picked up from your local accommodation, or Paihia Wharf, if coming from Russell, in our comfortable, air-conditioned coach.
Your guide Stella who is of Maori descent, raised in the beautiful Bay of Islands, she is a passionate conservationist and a professional pest eradicator with the love and respect for Te Taiao (natural world), she will take you on a short drive to the beautiful Opua Forest, from here your cultural experience will begin with you being given a Rakau (walking stick) to guide you through the forest. The one hour guided tour is an easy walk through a native Kauri forest and includes what traditional Maori used in the natural world to live, heal, to cloth and nourish their growing families, you will also be given an insight into why we can no longer use the Taonga (gifts) of the forest to live the same way today.
Stella then will take you on a short drive to Coastal Kayakers where your guided kayak tour will begin.
Waterfall Discovery Kayak Tour
On this fun-filled tour, you will paddle one way and get transported by a vehicle the other, while on the water you will feel the spray from the unique horseshoe-shaped Haruru Waterfall, be fascinated by our incredible Mangrove Forest and be blown away by our local wildlife.
Your guide will keep you entertained and amaze you with beautiful Maori Legends and local history and all this will be captured with photos taken by your guide and offered to you free of charge.
After your tour, the Coastal Kayakers Team will return you to your accommodation.
